Rock Climbing Destinations
1. Mt Arapiles, Victoria, Australia – one of the best spots in the world for traditional rock climbing. Mt Arapiles is a 3-4 hour drive from Melbourne. 2. Lady’s Slipper, Eastern Cape, South Africa – World-class climbing area that boasts some of the best routes. 3. Mt Eden Quarry, New Zealand – Due to the fact that the quarry is situated on the grounds of Auckland Grammar school, climbers have easy access to the basalt rock cliffs. 4. Bhutan, Asia – Located on the southern slopes of the eastern Himalayas, adventurous souls can climb the “Nose,” a climbing rock located just above Bhutan’s capital Thimphu. 5. City of Rocks National Reserve, Idaho – Sport climbing in a scenic granite valley. Best to make the trip in the late spring through early fall.
